STICKS AND SKATES SUMMER HOCKEY CAMP STICKS AND SKATES SUMMER HOCKEY CAMP WILL BE IN SESSION AGAIN THIS YEAR Monday, August 23 - Thursday, August 26 at Thomas Creek Ice Arena. The camp will consist of on-ice drills that will improve player's speed, puck handling, shooting, passing, on-ice vision, and team skills. Steve Thering - Pittsford Varsity Hockey Coach, Nick Pierandri and Tom Maier will be instructing. The cost for camp is $100 for all. Players entering grades 6-9, 12:00-1:30. Entering Grades 10-12 1:30-3:00. New this year - MAXIMUM 25 SKATERS PER SESSION. GOALIES MAY ALSO ATTEND. Limited to the first 25 paid skaters. PITTSFORD BASKETBALL CAMP The Pittsford Basketball Camp will be held again this summer during the first four weeks of summer break. Sessions are available for ages 6 and up. PITTSFORD SUMMER WORKOUTS July 5 - August 6-- Pittsford Summer Workouts is a 5-week camp that will be held at Sutherland High School. The Sutherland weight room will provide athletes with a structured facility to prepare for their upcoming season. The goal of the camp is to enhance every athletes strength, power, speed, agility, core strength, and flexibility. Workouts will directed by Jason Bernas who is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and a physical education teacher at Sutherland High School. The camp will run on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings from 9am-11am throughout the month of July and early August. YOUTH WHITEWATER KAYAKING CLINICS Lock 32 Whitewater park summer clinics teach kids and teens to excel in one of the fastest growing water sports in the country. Participants will learn the basic elements of whitewater kayaking and water safety, including wet-exits, forward and reverse sweep strokes, peel outs, eddy turns, ferries and river reading skills. All of the skills taught build a strong foundation for white water slalom racing, freestyle kayaking and recreational river running. The program involves lots of fun activities, including games and swimming to build a strong kayaking and safety skill set. All kayaks, helmets, paddles and life jackets are provided. LEARN TO ROW: The Perfect Summer Experience for Teens! Learn to Row, sponsored by Pittsford Crew, is now accepting registrations for the Summer 2010 camps. Boys and girls, entering grades 8 through 12 in the Fall 2010, are eligible to enroll in this popular camp which teaches basic rowing techniques, stresses safety procedures, and has kids rowing on the water by the second day of camp! There are three two-week sessions, running June 28-July 10, July 12-July 24, and July 26-August 7. There is also a choice of morning (9-11:30 AM) or afternoon (1-3:30 PM) classes. Advanced Learn to Row classes for previous participants are also being offered in the afternoons of the second and third sessions. A mini-regatta is held on the last Saturday morning of each session. The camp meets at the conveniently located William C. Warren III Boathouse, 2800 Clover Street near Erie Canal Lock 32. First Rowing Program for Current 5th and 6th Graders Pittsford Crew is proud to present its first Learn to Scull Summer Program. Sculling, rowing with two oars in a one, two, or four person boat, is the ideal way for younger adolescents to begin rowing. Sculling provides a symmetrical workout as beginning rowers learn about boat balance, power distribution, and the sense of how to move a boat through the water. The Learn to Scull Program will emphasize fun and safety while introducing participants to the sport of rowing. Monroe Community College Summer Camps Monroe Community College Summer Camps has some of the most knowledgeable and successful coaches in the Rochester area. Two levels of camps are being offered for Boys and Girls Ages 6-8, 9-10, 11-12 & Interscholastic (Mod-JV-V). Sports include lacrosse, football, volleyball, baseball, basketball, soccer, and swimming. Summer Fun Child Care-Pittsford Recreation The Pittsford Recreation Department’s Summer Fun program is gearing up for a summer full of fun! Registrations are now being accepted for children entering grades K-7 in the fall. The seven week program will be held June 28-August 13 from 8:30am-3:30pm. Summer Fun is excited to announce the addition of an After Care program running daily from 3:30-5:30pm.
Summer Fun will be held at two locations, the Spiegel Community Center & Mendon Center Elementary. After Care will take place at both locations. Parents now have the option to choose the location they register their children for. The program will continue to group children into the traditional K-1, 2-4 & 5-7 age groups. Both sites will run identical programs. What takes place at one location will also take place at the other. No matter what location you choose, your child will get the best of what Summer Fun has to offer.
The Preschool program, for children ages 3&4, will be held Monday-Friday at the Spiegel Community Center. The morning program runs 8:30-11:30 am and our afternoon program runs 12:30-3:30 pm. This program is a great way for our youngest participants to join in on the fun. Preschool Summer Fun has two sessions to choose from. Session One will be held June 28-July 23. Session Two will be held July 26-August 13. A Summer Fun Open House will be held on Friday, June 25 from 5:30- 7:30 pm at the Spiegel Community Center. This is a great opportunity to meet program staff and learn more about the exciting activities taking place this summer.
