03/22/10-- Board of Education 2010-2011 Budget Development Meeting Schedule: Next Meeting is Monday, March 22, 2010 from 6 - 7 p.m. Budget Work Session, Barker Road Middle School, Meeting Room. Budget Work Sessions are used by the Board of Education to gather information and ask questions about particular sections of the budget. These sessions are held outside of formal Board of Education meetings. Most decisions will be discussed during these sessions. The Pittsford Central School District community is invited and encouraged to attend these sessions as they are open to the public. 03/25-03/27--Music Man was last produced on the Sutherland stage in 1991.  The classic musical showcases features great singing and dancing.  It’s really a family show.  This year’s production includes a very talented cast of students from Sutherland, as well as some special cast members from Allen Creek, Jeff Rd., Mendon Center and Calkins Rd., and our fine student orchestra.  Show dates are March 25-27 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on the 27th.  Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at Sutherland from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. every day.  You can also reserve tickets by calling the box office, 267-1114.  Tickets will be available at the door.

04/01/10-- Historic Pittsford Achievement Awards: Historic Pittsford annually recognizes individuals and/or organizations in the community whose outstanding contributions to the preservation of the history and character of the Village or Town of Pittsford are worthy of recognition. Community members are encouraged to nominate individuals, groups, organizations, businesses, students, scouts, government bodies, etc. The deadline to submit nominations is April 1. 06/05/10-NEW DATE FOR MHS JUNIOR PROM In order to avoid a conflict with the SHS Junior/Senior Ball, the Junior Class Student Council has decided to move the date and location of their Junior Prom to June 5, 2010 at Brook-Lea Country Club.

The Pittsford Panther Youth Football and Cheerleading Organization will begin open registration on March 3, 2010 for interested players and cheerleaders ages 7 - 14.  Please visit our website at www.pittsfordyouthfootball.com for more details about the program (see the FAQ link) and to access on-line registration forms.  If you have additional questions, please send an email topittsfordyouthfootball@gmail.com.  Go Panthers!

Attention Middle School and High School students:  Pittsford Little League is getting ready to begin our first Challenger Baseball league season for children with mental and/or physical challenges, and we need your help!  We are recruiting “buddies” for the players that will assist the players during the games.  It is a great opportunity to volunteer and earn community service hours.  We are looking for “buddies” to make a regular commitment to Sunday afternoon games beginning in June 2010 for a 6-8 week game schedule, however, we welcome volunteers any week as well.   Full training will be provided.  If you would like to volunteer, please email or call with your name, address, email, and home and cell phone #’s to Judy Breitenbach atbreitenj@rochester.rr.com or 381-0151.

03/19/10-- 6th Grade FUN NIGHT “BEACH BLAST!” For BRMS & CRMS Combined 6th Grades – This Friday, March 19 @ CRMS, 7-9:00 p.m.: Come out to your last Fun Night of the school year for “BEACH BLAST!”  featuring MONSTER volleyball, surfer tunes, dance, limbo and hula contests, and crab walk races (with prizes!) - and swimming of course!  Rock out your favorite beach outfit. (Please note: Bathing suits in pool area only.)  Admission $5.00 includes drink and pizza. Ben & Jerry’s ice cream (with half of the proceeds going to Chilean Earthquake Relief) , and Arnold Palmer Iced Tea available for purchase. 03/19/10-- HELPING HANDS MEETING: The next Mendon Center Elementary Helping Hands meeting is scheduled for Friday, March 19 at 8:30am in the cafeteria.  (Please ride the early bus to school.)  First, MCE and Helping Hands parent, Mrs. Lori Moore, will enlighten us about the gift of organ donation.  The Moore family was very personally touched by this special gift because Mrs. Moore's sister was a recipient of multiple organs. Then Karin Kaiser, our Red Cross representative who is helping us organize our annual blood drive, will pump you up to recruit donors (family members, friends, neighbors).  Rumor has it that the Helping Hands kids who have the most people come to donate blood will win a pizza lunch with your favorite principal, Mrs. Ward.  So, start recruiting!  The blood drive will take place at Mendon Center on the afternoon of the half day of school--Wednesday, March 24--and a local Girl Scout troop will provide babysitting services for the children of donors. Remember, Helping Hands meetings are open to all fourth and fifth graders at MCE.  Parents are always invited and encouraged to attend (extra help is always needed and greatly appreciated!).

03/24/19--AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE AT MENDON CENTER  MCE'S community service club, Helping Hands, is hosting its annual blood drive next Wednesday afternoon, March 24, from 2pm-7pm in the school gym.  (This is the half day of school.)  A local Girl Scout troop has graciously volunteered to provide babysitting services for the children of donors.  Potential donors can make an appointment online through the Red Cross website, but walk-ins are welcome and encouraged.  Please pass on the word to everyone you know that this is an opportunity to give the gift of life!  Questions??? 03/16/10-- Park Road PTSA Meeting - Tuesday, March 16 from 7-8pm.  PTSA has our final evening meeting of the year this Tuesday in the cafeteria.  Our guest speaker is Lisa Fulmer, Executive Director of Pittsford Youth Services.  Suzanne Luce, the Social Worker from PYS who works in our building will accompany her.  Lisa will give an overview of the amazing services provided by PYS and talk briefly about anxiety and how to help kids cope.  It should be a great meeting.  If you have never attended a PTSA meeting, take an hour and see what we are all about!  View the agenda here at http://www.pittsfordptsa.net/resources.cfm?subpage=1116569

03/29-03/31/10-- It's "All You Can Read" at the Scholastic Book Fair Diner...... coming to Park Road March 29-31. The Book Fair will be open after school on Monday 3/29 (Teacher Preview), all day Tuesday 3/30 and all day until 8pm on Wednesday 3/31, the night of Park Road's Open House and Ice Cream Social! - Come join us at Heather Heights Nursing Home on the upcoming half-day, Wednesday March 24. We will meet there at 1:30 to work on a spring project with the residents and have some fun!

- Community Service will be sponsoring a can/bottle drive at our upcoming Open House/Ice Cream Social March 31- as part of our District Wide Project for Spring. Proceeds from this collection will go to victims of the latest disasters in Haiti and Chili.  SAVE YOUR CANS/BOTTLES!!!!!

03/25-03/27/10-- “The Music Man” on the Sutherland High School Stage: Sutherland High School presents “The Music Man” on March 25, 26 and 27 at 7:30pm and on March 27 at 2pm. You won’t want to miss this musical theatre classic. In it, a con man comes to a Midwestern town with a scam using a boy's marching band program, but things don't go according to plan. Tickets are $12 for reserved seating and are available at the door.

“Sweet Side of Sutherland”--Are you always dreaming desserts?  Do you see yourself as the next spokesperson for all worldwide sweets on the Food Network? If you have any sugar coated thoughts….this message is for you! SHS wants YOU and your original RECIPE for the first SHS cookbook:  “SweetSide of Sutherland” Join us for this exciting project.  All proceeds will be donated to the Pittsford Food Cupboard.
